There are no direct flights, so you will connect through one major hub. From the East Coast, the easiest one-stop routes go through Paris (Air France or Air Mauritius), London (British Airways or Air Mauritius), Dubai (Emirates), Abu Dhabi (Etihad), Istanbul (Turkish Airlines), Cairo (EgyptAir), or Nairobi (Kenya Airways).
Worth a stopover: Paris, Dubai, and Istanbul make easy add-on city breaks, and Nairobi is a natural gateway for a safari.

Airport Transfers
Mauritius has one international airport, Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU), in the southeast of the island. Most resort areas are 45 to 90 minutes away.
Hotel pickup: Most luxury hotels offer complimentary transfers. Please confirm when booking.
Private transfer: Approximately $40 to $60 USD one way. We recommend booking through your hotel.
Taxi: Available at the airport. Negotiate fare before departing (approximately MUR 1,500 to 2,500).
Currency & Payments
The local currency is the Mauritian Rupee (MUR). As of 2026, approximately 1 USD = 45 MUR.
Credit cards (Visa/Mastercard) are widely accepted at hotels and restaurants. ATMs are available at the airport and throughout the island.
Tip: Carry some cash for market shopping and tips.
SIM Cards & Connectivity
Purchase a local SIM at the airport from Emtel or my.t (MTML). Tourist packs with data start at approximately $5 USD for 5GB.
WiFi is available at all hotels and most restaurants. Coverage is generally good island-wide.
